About Course

This is a Category B – CPD  (Mandatory) Activity for Migration Agents. OMARA Activity Number M1B10042

The updated Code of Conduct enacted under the Migration (Migration Agents Code of Conduct) Regulations 2021 came into effect on 1 March 2022. The Code makes a number of changes to the previous version of the Code, retains many of the previous provisions, and also adds, streamlines, and removes certain obligations.

Registered Migration Agents should refer to the Distance Learning Paper – Ethics and Professional Practice for a detailed summary and discussion of the new Code of Conduct.

For Registered Migration Agents (RMA):

Participants must complete the 20 question Quiz, and answer at least 15  questions correctly in order to be eligible for the award of 1 CPD – Category B points for OMARA. 

After successfully completing the Quiz, RMAs must declare that they have completed the Quiz independently, by submitting the declaration form. CPD points will be reported to OMARA within 14 days of declaration.

For Lawyers

Lawyers are not required to complete the Quiz, but may do so as a learning tool. No CPD points for lawyers will be awarded in this course. Lawyers may consider attending other courses to claim CPD points.

What Will You Learn?

  • The requirement to engage in ethical and professional conduct is an integral aspect of a registered migration agent’s duties and responsibilities to their clients and to their profession.
  • The Code articulates the need for agents to properly complete their continuing professional development as required by the Migration Agents Regulations 1998, to be able to perform honestly and diligently and to be able to deal fairly with clients, among other obligations.
